Pearl Harbor

Starring: Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, and Alec Baldwin

Directed by: Michael Bay

Synopsis: This is a film of the events that took place during the December 1941 bombing of our naval base in Hawaii by the Japanese. The story centers on two childhood friends who are fighting both in and out of the field over the love of the same woman.

My thoughts: This is an honorable movie with great intentions but an average delivery. Its major flaws include little to no character development, poor time transitioning, and some other minor continuity errors.

It mimics the Titanic formula, but doesn't create the emotional intensity that James Cameron did almost 3 years ago. Yet there was the familiar sound of sobbing and sniffling throughout the theater. The bombing sequences, however, were fantastic.

Score: 8 out of 10
